We are seeking a skilled, curious and experienced Polymer Engineer/Scientist to join our product development and R&D team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ideating novel formulations of thermoplastic resins using seaweed. The candidate will be involved in analyzing, summarizing and communicating data. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new products from concept to market.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop novel, robust and scalable polymeric blends and formulations for specific applications within packaging.

Analyze experimental data and write formal reports of experimental results, including in electronic lab notebook format.

Conduct research to understand polymer properties and performance characteristics.

Collaborate with manufacturing teams to scale-up and optimize polymer production processes.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in polymer science.

Qualifications

Education:
-
Masters in Polymer Science/Materials Science/Food Science. PhD is preferred.

Experience:
-
Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role in the industry (w/PhD). 5 years minimum experience in industry (w/o PhD).

Experience with thermoplastic starch or extrusion processes in the food industry will be highly valued.

Skills:
-
Strong understanding of biopolymer (i.e. polysaccharide) chemistry, extrusion (food or plastics), material properties, hands-on experience with lab equipment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Soft skills (e.g., communication, teamwork, problem-solving).

Language skills: fluent in English. Spanish is a nice add on
