We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Process Engineer to support the production optimization of our seaweed bioplastics. This role involves a combination of engineering design, troubleshooting, and on-the-ground technical work. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and previous experience with polymer processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Development: Assist in the design and setup of the extrusion machines.

  • R&D: Plan and execute experiments related to processing of novel formulations.

  • Onboard New Users: Train and supervise new users of the machines.

  • Equipment Operation: Operate, monitor, and maintain lab-scale and pilot-scale equipment to ensure efficient and safe production.

  • Process Optimization: Analyze and troubleshoot production processes, identifying areas for improvement in yield, efficiency, and quality.

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, record, and analyze data from trials to provide insights and recommendations for process improvements.

  • Prototyping & Testing: Support the production of prototype samples.

  • Scale-Up Support: Collaborate with the engineering team to scale lab processes to pilot and commercial scales.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Masters in Engineering or equivalent experience.
       

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar role in industry. 

    • Hands-on experience with polymer extrusion, compounding, and/or molding is highly desirable

  • Skills:

    • Familiarity with process control and equipment troubleshooting.

    • Ability to use and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., mixers, extruders, compounding machines).

    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.

    • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced start-up environment.

  • Work Environment: Pilot plant (location: Barcelona, Zona Franca, D Factory)
